Document Availability in PACFile
The Document Name(s) column, appearing in several locations throughout PACFile, may contain the documents associated to a corresponding participant filing or a communication from the court.
On a Common Pleas Court case, a PACFile user's ability to view these documents electronically is based on a combination of the docket type and their association to one or more of the case participants. Typically, PACFile users associated to a participant in a litigating party role (ex. Prosecution, Juvenile, Child, Children and Youth Services) can see all the documents on a given case. Available documents are represented with a Document icon in the Document Name(s)column.
The availability of documents for PACFile users associated to participants in third or non-litigating party roles (ex. Witness, Truant Officer, Insurance Company) can be much more limited. In these roles, an individual's ability to view participant-filed documents may be limited to those filed on behalf of the case participant they are associated with. Other documents may be unavailable altogether. If any attorney is representing multiple participants in varying roles, their ability to view documents is based on the participant role that offers the most document availability.
No attorneys, pro se participants, or other individuals, who are not actively participating on a case, can view any of the corresponding documents under any circumstances.
Refer to the table below for the document availability of each docket type and participant role combination:
